    The Punjab and Haryana High Court has granted interim bail to dismissed cop Pritpal Singh, who allegedly helped gangster Deepak Tinu- an accused in Sidhu Moosewala murder case- to abscond from police custody.

    Tinu is an alleged aide of Lawrence Bishnoi who helped in arranging sharp shooters for the murder. It was alleged that while in custody of CIA, Deepak absconded with the help of the then CIA Sub-Inspector Pritpal Singh.

    Singh was thus booked under Sections 222, 224, 225-A, 212, 216, 120-B of IPC and Sections 25, 54, 59 of Arms Act at District Mansa in October 2022 and been in custody since then.

    His counsel submitted that the accused Deepak provided many secret information to the the security agencies and on the day of escape from the CIA Staff Mansa, he allured the investigation agency that he is going to recover the huge quantity of weapons being used by gangsters along with the that drug and on his allurement, "entire CIA Staff be-fooled by him" and he escaped from the custody. It was further submitted that Deepak has now been re-arrested from Delhi and behind the bars. 

    The other co-accused persons in the case namely Sunil Kumar Lohia, Kuldeep Singh and others have been released on bail by the High Court, the plea added.

    Thus while granting time to State counsel to verify the above facts, Court ordered, "In the meantime, petitioner is ordered to be released on interim bail in the present case till the next date of hearing on furnishing bail bonds and surety bonds to the satisfaction of learned trial Court/Duty Magistrate concerned."

    The matter is now listed on January 25 for further consideration.
