Telangana High Court Passes A Slew Of Directions To Ensure Speedy Disposal Of Cases Against MLAs &MPs

The Telangana High Court has passed a slew of directions to the Courts and Police Officials concerned in furtherance of the Suo Motu proceedings that were taken up by the Telangana High Court to ensure speedy disposal of cases with regards to MLAs and MPs.On the last date of hearing, the Court had directed the Registrar of the High Court of Telangana to file a report showing the number of pending cases against MLAs and MPs within the State. On Friday, Senior Counsel Vidya Sagar appearing on behalf of the Registrar General presented the report before the Division Bench of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Anil Kumar Jukanti.The statistics have also been uploaded on the official website of the Telangana High Court and can be found at the bottom of the home page. The data showed that in total there were 115 cases pending against various Government representatives throughout the State. The bench has passed the followingdirections to ensure the speedy disposal:1. The CBI Courts were directed to dispose of the pending discharge petitions before it within 2 months.2. In cases that were pending summons, the Investigating officers were directed to issue summons within 2 weeks.3. It was noted that 10 cases had been stayed by a bench of the High Court, and all special benches were requested to dispose of miscellaneous petitions including vacate state petitions.4. Where the summons were served and the accused had not served appearance, the concerned Courts were directed to take appropriate action in coordination with the Police to ensure appearance.5. In cases that were pending at the pre - cognizance stage the police was directed to take appropriate steps and the Magistrates have been directed to number chargesheets expeditiously once objections are complied with.
