Bombay High CourtIn a significant judgment, the Bombay High Court held that the Federation of Labour Law Practitioners cannot be registered as a trade union under the Trade Unions Act, 1926.The High Court granted interim stay on an order passed by the State Information Commissioner (Greater Mumbai), Ajit Kumar Jain, wherein the Deputy Registrar of the High Court was directed to furnish information regarding applications made by judges since 2010 before the state government seeking allotment of residential plots, apartments etc.On Monday, the High Court passed an ex-parte order against Patanjali Ayurved owned by Baba Ramdev restraining them from broadcasting a particular advertisement that plaintiff Hindustan Unilever sought injunction against.The High Court recently rejected the bail application filed by a 19-year-old youth who was accused of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old boy at his residence.The High Court quashed and set aside an order of the Additional Sessions Judge, Thane, convicting accused Yellamma Mehatre and Firoja Shaikh under Section 366A (procuration of minor girl) of the Indian Penal Code.Calcutta High CourtThe Calcutta High Court held that without producing the cheque before the drawer bank, complaint under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act will not be maintainable.Delhi High courtThe Delhi High Court held that the availability of revisional remedy under Section 399/401 of the Cr.P.C does not bar the invocation of inherent powers under Section 482 of the Code. In reaching the decision, the Delhi High Court followed the decision of the Supreme Court in Prabhu Chawla v. State of Rajasthan AIR 2016 SC 4245.
