  • Argus Partners Advised BCCI In The Historic IPL Media Rights Auction For The 2023-2027 Cycle

    Argus Partners has advised the Board of Control for Cricket in India ("BCCI") in the historic Indian Premier League ("IPL") media rights auction for the 2023-2027 cycle.

    The BCCI has sold the IPL TV and digital rights for the Indian subcontinent for a combined amount of Rs. 48,390 Crores (Source: The Economic Times). The bid for the TV rights in the Indian sub-continent for IPL has been won by Disney Star while Viacom18 has won the digital rights for the same (Source: The Economic Times).

    This deal has now made IPL the second richest league in the world ahead of the English Premier League (EPL) and National Basketball Association (NBA) and is now only the second sporting league after the United States' National Football League (NFL) in terms of per match value (Source: Times of India, INC42).

    According to BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah, "The BCCI will utilize the revenue generated from IPL to strengthen our domestic cricket structure starting from grassroots, to boost infrastructure and spruce up facilities across India and enrich the overall cricket-watching experience" (Source: The Economic Times).
