    About the Centre

    The Centre for Advanced Legal Studies, Training, and Research was established with a vision to bring all academic, research, and training activities relating to existing, contemporary, and futuristic law under the single, unique, and independent umbrella of the department in the Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai.

    Encouraging and promoting legal research of high quality and standards is one of the prime objectives of the Centre. The centre arranges various seminars, webinars, symposiums, and conferences and asks for paper presentations and publications on various contemporary, advanced, and futuristic topics in the field of law. All the activities relating to legal research, training, studies, and consultancy are being implemented independently and with the cooperation and coordination of various Centres running under the MNLU.

    About the Blog

    The blog covers a wide range of Socio, political, Economic, and legal topics. Therefore, we welcome submissions of original, in-depth essays that discuss contemporary issues and developments in the study of law, sociology, or politics in India and throughout the world. This year, the centre's main focus is on the general area of “Gender and Technology.” Therefore, blogs specifically on this subject are encouraged. Commentary: comments on specific cases, new laws, and emerging policies, Reviews: critical evaluations of books, articles, and other pertinent works on the basis of longer research articles, seminars, or presentations, short pieces.

    After evaluation, the blogs would be posted on the CALSTAR website. Interdisciplinary articles pertaining to varied subject domains are strongly encouraged.

    Everyone is encouraged to participate, including academics, professionals, and students who wish to offer their knowledge and abilities. By including articles and viewpoints on our blog, we want to establish a space for free and informed discussion about legal and socio-political events.

    Content Guidelines and Conditions for Publication:

    1. All submissions made to the CALSTAR must consist of original work authored by the individual(s). The maximum plagiarism allowed shall be up to 10% of the contents of the entire blog. As a precondition for submission, the centre reserves the right to subject the submitted content to any anti-plagiarism software.
    2. All submissions shall be accepted for publication with the assumption that they do not infringe upon copyrights or any other rights held by any person. The author(s) will hold sole responsibility for any breach in this aspect. The website or the Centre will not be liable or responsible for any such infringements.
    3. The submitted content should not contain any obscene, offensive, downright insulting, defamatory, or racially prejudiced material. Any submission deemed offensive or attacking any particular caste, creed, religion, race, or sex shall be rejected for publication.
    4. Blogs should ordinarily be confined to 1300-1600 words (excluding citations). They should aim to provide analysis, critique, or opinion on a specific Socio, Economic, Political issue, law update, or any critical study on interdisciplinary research.
    5. We shall remain flexible with the word limit depending on the content and the quality of the submission.
    6. We are looking to publish academic writing on gender and technology. While interdisciplinary articles pertaining to varied subject domains are strongly encouraged, a relation to the main theme is recommended. However, meritorious articles deviating from the general theme shall be considered without prejudice for publication. Contemporary issues in the news cycle are a dominant consideration.
    7. Once the submitted content is accepted for publication, the copyright shall immediately transfer to the website and the CALSTAR. The author(s) grant an irrevocable, transferable, non-exclusive, and royalty-free license to CALSTAR to store, display, reproduce, publish, distribute, and promote their submissions on the website, retrieval systems, media handles, including but not limited to social media handles. Authors must refrain from submitting the same piece or article anywhere else, including other pages, forums, websites, or institutions, while it is under review by society. However, in the event of rejection, the author shall be free to submit and publish the content elsewhere. The Blog can be published anywhere else with the prior permission of CALSTAR. While submitting elsewhere due information should be provided and be acknowledged by the other party regarding prior submission to CALSTAR Blog.
    8. The Editorial team may recommend the author to make necessary changes in the blog submitted so as to make it viable for publication, however, if the author fails to do the needful the article stands rejected.
    9. The Editorial Team will have the final say in all pertinent matters.

    Formatting Guidelines:

    1. The submission must be prepared in a word-processed format using Times New Roman font. Submissions in Word Doc. format will only be accepted.
    2. Proper citations are essential and must be presented in the form of Hyperlinks and a Bibliography at the end.
    3. The author may adopt any recognized and uniform citation style. However, it is crucial to maintain consistency in the chosen citation standard and style throughout the entire submission.
    4. The main text should be presented in font size 12.
    5. Alignment should be justified, and line spacing must be set at 1.5.
    6. A one-line gap must be maintained between headings and paragraphs. All paragraphs should commence with a one-inch indent.

    Please adhere to these formal guidelines to ensure a proper and professional submission to the CALSTAR.

    Submission Guidelines:

    1. Interested authors are requested to submit their contributions via the link given at the end of this post. The submissions should be in MS Word attachments and in .doc/.docx format.
    2. No more than 3 authors are allowed for one article.
    3. All submissions must include a cover letter that provides the following details:
      1. Name(s) of the author(s)
      2. Institutional affiliation(s)
      3. Academic qualifications, including degrees completed
      4. Title and category of the submission
      5. Email addresses of all co-authors.
    4. The body of the submission or blog must not contain any identification of the author(s), including institutional affiliation. Such details should only be mentioned in the cover letter.
    5. All submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis. The CALSTAR follows a diligent editorial review process for all received submissions and exercises absolute discretion in accepting any submission.
