    TheInternational Conference is being organized by theNational Human Right Commission (NHRC), New Delhi in association with Indian Law Institute (ILI), New Delhi and Lloyd Law College, Greater Noida,and with academic support from Empowerment through Law of the Common People (ELCOP), Bangladesh,is organisingWORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY OBSERVANCE 2022 and INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SUSTAINABILITY & SUBSISTENCE: HUMAN RIGHTS & ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES" from 5th June to 6th June, 2022 in conjunction with the CLEA‐MILATHUMAN RIGHTS & SOCIAL JUSTICE SUMMER SCHOOL- 2022.

    About the International Conference:

    The International Conference will be a two day event where academicians, experts, lawyers, research scholars and students from India and abroad will present their papers on the broad themes for the conference. An expert committee would shortlist papers for presentation under various thematic sessions so that along with discussion and in-depth analysis, the authors can present papers and participate in the respective thematic session. The papers will be short-listed based on quality, innovative ideas and originality of presentation.

    Hon'ble. Mr. Justice Arun Mishra, Chairman, National Human Rights Commission, India/ Former Judge, Supreme Court of India has kindly consented to be the Chief Patron for the Summer School programme.

    The Conference will be held parallel to the CLEA-MILAT Human Rights & Social Justice Summer School 2022, where 50 students from India and abroad would be participating and the Conference will also have a dedicated Technical Session for the Students to present their papers.

    Broad Themes for the International Conference

    • Conserving nature and connecting people: Pro-environmental behaviour and links to health and wellbeing;
    • Restoring the iconic rivers as the cradle of human civilizations: Water, food and livelihood security;
    • Sustainable and circular life: Clean water, waste management, energy and nutrients their recovery and smart management and disaster management;
    • Sustainability and biodiversity: Species conservation, forests, wetland, etc.
    • Best Practices and strategies: For driving the momentum and public awareness of nature as a key aspect;
    • Connecting to nature: Role of educational institutions in inculcating enviro-friendly culture;
    • Working for nature: Role of institutions in conservation of nature and creation of awareness;
    • Tradition, culture and practices: Identifying the path for sustainable communities and
    • Human Rights and Environmental issues beyond law.
    • Any topic, which does not fall within the above themes but is related to the Conference objective, may be accepted as per the discretion of the panel of experts

    Aims and objectives of the International Conference

    • To identify and discuss various aspects and methods to provide an opportunity for driving the momentum and public awareness of nature as a key aspect and harnessing the power of education to create positive change for the future
    • To build Leadership for nature awareness; to connect and conserve nature; educate for sustainable communities and career-connected learning; and link research and practice to increase the impact
    • To provide a platform to discuss the challenges in balancing protection of Human rights and protection of environment.

    Resource Persons

    "World Environment Day Observance 2022 And International Conference On Sustainability & Subsistence: Human Rights & Environmental Issues" is organized by a group of experienced personalities which would include Hon'ble Judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts, Lawyers, Academicians, Professionals, Social Activists, Bureaucrats, Journalists and Researchers from India and abroad. The programme has been conceptualized by Prof. (Dr.) S. Sivakumar, ILI / Vice-President, CLEA/ President CLEA Asia& Chairman, MILAT, who is the Chair of the conference.

    The organizers invite papers for presentation from academicians, experts, lawyers, research scholars and students from India and abroad.

    • Professionals/Academicians- INR 2000/-

    How to Apply

    Interested candidates can apply by submitting an abstract of not more than 300 words. It must be typewritten in Times New Roman font, 12 points, with 1.5 line spacing and 'justified' alignment.
