HNLU Launches Distinguished Jurist Professor Programme To Commemorate Gandhi Jayanti

Judges- Mr. Deepak Gupta- Mr. M R Shah- Mr. A K Goswami and Mr. G Raghuram to be Distinguished Jurist Professors of HNLU
In commemoration of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2nd, 2023- the Hidayatullah National Law University has launched the Distinguished Jurist Professor Programme (H-DJP). This landmark initiative aims to empanel legal luminaries from the Bench, Bar and Academia with HNLU to share their experiential learning to add practical insight and value to the traditional curriculum and teaching exercise at the Law University.
Designated as the "Distinguished Jurist Professor Program," the programme has enlisted and will also add in the coming days former Judges of the Supreme Court & High Courts, practicing Senior Counsels and distinguished academicians to interact with students, research scholars and faculty in Hybrid mode of their choice of subjects/titles for a short and long duration.
Launching the programme, Vice Chancellor of HNLU observed. “ The Distinguished Jurist Professor (H-DJP) aims to foster an interactive platform where an ensemble of revered figures—from eminent jurists, distinguished judges and seasoned academicians to proficient practitioners—collaborate. This amalgamation aims to impart a blend of contemporary and detailed legal instruction, all while spearheading cutting-edge research across multifaceted legal terrains’
The H-DJP initiative at HNLU has the acceptance of a galaxy of legal luminaries of former Judges of Supreme Court- Justice Deepak Gupta, Justice MR Shah; Former Judges of High Courts- Justice Arup Kumar Goswami, Former Chief Justice of High Court of Chhattisgarh, Justice G Raghuram of the Andhra Pradesh High Court. Senior Counsels include Adv R Venkatramani, Learned Attorney General of India, Mr. Satish Chandra Verma, Advocate General of Chhattisgarh, Mr. Kishore Bhahudri, Senior Counsel of the CG High Court, Mr. L. Ravi Chander Senior Counsel of the Telangana High Court, Mr. P.V.S.Giridhar Senior Counsel of Chennai High Court and Dr. Malathi Lakshmikumaran, partner with Lakshmi Kumaran & Sons.
The Eminent Academic Jurists include - Prof. (Dr.) N.L. Mitra, Former Vice-Chancellor, NLSIU & NLU Jodhpur, Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh, Pro-Chancellor, IILM University, Prof. (Dr.) R. Venkat Rao, Vice-Chancellor, IIULER Goa, Prof. (Dr.) Paramjit Jaswal, Vice-Chancellor, SRM University, Prof. (Dr.) Jose Verghese, Founding Vice-Chancellor, HNLU Raipur, Prof. (Dr.) Poonam Saxena, Former Vice-Chancellor, NLU Jodhpur, Prof. (Dr.) David Ambrose, Former HoD, Madras University, Prof. (Dr.) MK Ramesh, Former Professor, NLSIU Bangalore.
The Academic Jurists from abroad include - Prof. (Dr.) Srividya Raghavan, Professor of Law and Director of India Programs, Texas A&M University, Prof. (Dr.) Shubha Ghosh, Crandall Melvin Professor of Law, Director, Syracuse Intellectual Property Law Institute and Prof. (Dr.) Irene Calboli, Regents Professor of Law, Texas A&M University.
The University is in the process of empanelling other eminent Jurists in the H-DJP programme in the coming days. HNLU envisages that this pioneering initiative will not only enhance the educational experience of its students but also contribute richly to the evolving tapestry of global legal education and jurisprudence.
