AMU: Sir Syed National Moot Court Competition 2024 Semi-Final And Final Round

    The Faculty of Law at Aligarh Muslim University boasts a distinguished history as one of India's oldest institutions offering legal education. Inspired by the British university system, the Department of Law was established in 1883 to align legal education with this vision. Over its century-long existence, the Faculty of Law has played a pivotal role in the nation's development, contributing significantly to academic and social progress. It has nurtured numerous legal luminaries. In 2017, the Faculty of Law at Aligarh Muslim University achieved the prestigious 2nd position for academic and research excellence among Indian law institutions. More recently, the 2021 National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) recognized the Faculty of Law at AMU, Aligarh, placing it in the 6th position nationally.

    The inauguration ceremony for the Sir Syed National Moot Court Competition (SSNMCC) 2024 took place on February 24, 2024. The event commenced with an address by the Chief Guest, Senior Advocate Mr. Sidharth Luthra, former Additional Solicitor General for India, who delivered a lecture on 'Recent Advances in Criminal Law.' Mr. Luthra provided insights into the passage of reforms in both substantive and procedural criminal law.

    The orientation session was held for the semi-finalist teams of the Sir Syed National Moot Court Competition (SNMCC) 2024 at the Moot Court Hall in the Faculty of Law, Aligarh Muslim University on 1st Mrach.

    • Syed Farman Ahmad Naqvi (Senior Advocate, Allahabad High Court)
    • MR Shamshad (Advocate on Record, Supreme Court of India)

    The respective winning teams and individuals collected their trophies and prize cheques with Rs. 18,000 being the prize for the winning team and Rs. 12,000 being the prize for the runner-up team. The competition concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Md. Ashraf (Chairman, Department of Law).
