The DPIIT-IPR Chair & CIRF of Chanakya National Law University, Patna, in collaboration with S.S. Rana & Co., has announced the CNLU-DPIIT-IPR National Moot Court Competition, 2026.
About CNLU
Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna, established in 2006 by the Government of Bihar, is a premier national law institution committed to excellence in legal education, research, and professional training. About DPIIT-IPR Chair & CIRF
The DPIIT–IPR Chair at Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna was established under the initiative of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. Its objective is to strengthen academic engagement, policy research, capacity-building, and outreach in the field of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
The Centre for Innovation, Research and Facilitation (CIRF) is a flagship research centre of CNLU dedicated to promoting excellence in research, innovation, incubation, and academic development. CIRF aims to create an enabling environment for interdisciplinary scholarship, entrepreneurship, and knowledge transfer.
About The Competition
The 1st National IP Moot Court Competition, 2025–26, organised by the DPIIT–IPR Chair and CIRF of Chanakya National Law University, Patna, centres on the contemporary and evolving theme of Copyright and Artificial Intelligence in the online mode. This inaugural edition aims to immerse participants in the complex legal and policy challenges arising from AI-generated works, authorship debates, technological creativity, and emerging copyright liabilities in the digital age.
Eligibility
The competition shall be open for the students currently pursuing their bachelor's degree in law i.e., 3-Year LL.B. course or 5-Year LL.B. course from any recognized university/college in India. Each team shall be comprised of either three members where two would be speakers and one researcher. More than one team from a Law School is allowed.
Mode: Hybrid
1st February, 2026: Inaugural & Preliminary round (Online)
2nd February, 2026: Quarter finals & Semi-finals (Online)
15th February, 2026: Finals (Offline)

Registration
The participating teams can register themselves by filling in the google form and paying the registration contribution. After successful registration, each participant/ team shall be allotted a team code for further references.
The participants who are participating need to pay Registration fees of Rs. 4,000.
