    The first edition of the National Human Rights Moot Court Competition is organised by Xavier Law School, XIM University, Bhubaneswar in a first of its kind collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission of India and in association with the Chambers of Abhinav Mishra, Advocates & Solicitors.

    The National Human Rights Commission is an embodiment of India's concern for promoting and protecting of human rights. It was established in 12th October 1993 under the Protection of Human Rights Act (PHRA), 1993, and amended by the Protection of Human Rights (Amendment) Act, 2006.

    About the Competition:

    Xavier Law School, XIM University, Bhubaneswar (XIM, Bhubaneswar) is thrilled to inform that the 1st National Human Rights Moot Court Competition, 2022 in collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). This premier event is designed to offer participants the chance to learn about the evolution of jurisprudence on significant developments in constitutional law and human rights law, as well as to arm the next generation of lawyers with research and oratory abilities

    Details of the Moot Court Competition:

    Name of the Event: 1st National Human Rights Moot Court Competition, 2022

    Date of Competition: 16th December, 2022 – 18th December, 2022

    Mode of Conduct: Physically on Campus

    Venue: Xavier Law School, XIM University, Plot No: 12(A), Nijigada, Kurki, Harirajpur-752050, District-Puri, Odisha, India.

    Eligibility:

    1. All students who have been duly enrolled and are pursuing a full-time 3-year LL.B. programme or a 5-year integrated LL.B. programme (or international equivalent) from the Institution/University recognized by Bar Council of India or equally competent authority shall be eligible to participate in the competition.
    2. Only one team can register from a particular College or Institution for participation.

    Awards: The competition shall award cash prizes of Rs. 1, 42, 000/- in the following categories

    Team Awards:

    1. Winners - Cash Prize of INR 51,000/- (Fifty-One Thousand Only)
    2. Runner's Up - Cash Prize of INR 36,000/- (Thirty-One Thousand Only)
    3. Best Memorial (Petitioner) - Cash Prize of INR 11,000/- (Eleven thousand only)
    4. Best Memorial (Respondent) - Cash Prize of INR 11,000/- (Eleven thousand only)

    Individual Awards:

    1. Best Mooter (Male) - Cash Prize of INR 11,000/- (Eleven Thousand Only) based on the Preliminary Rounds.
    2. Best Mooter (Female) - Cash Prize of INR 11,000/- (Eleven Thousand Only) based on the Preliminary Rounds.
    3. Best Researcher - Cash Prize oÿ INR 11,000/- (Eleven thousand only) based on the Researcher's Test

    Registration Details:

    Last date of Registration: 25th November, 2022 till 11:59 PM.

    Registration Fee: Rs. 4500/- per team inclusive of accommodation and food.

    Mode of Registration: Prior payment through NEFT/RTGS/ Net-Banking (Account details are provide in the Brochure) and filing the registration form thereon.
