    The Army Institute of Law, Mohali, under the aegis of its Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), is organising a One-Day National Seminar on the theme “Restraint on Media: A Pathway to Strengthen Democracy”, scheduled to be held on 28th March, 2026.

    The seminar aims to foster meaningful academic and professional dialogue on the contemporary challenges faced by the media within a constitutional democracy. It seeks to critically examine the evolving role of media and the delicate balance between freedom of expression and reasonable restraint in the interest of democratic governance.

    The deliberations will focus on, inter alia, the following themes:

    • Media ethics and accountability

    • Judicial perspectives on media regulation

    • Freedom of speech versus censorship

    • Regulation of digital and social media

    • Yellow journalism and sensationalism

    • Impact of artificial intelligence on media practices

    The seminar intends to bring together academicians, legal professionals, media practitioners, researchers, and students to engage in thoughtful discussions on the ethical, constitutional, and regulatory dimensions of media in the contemporary era.

    Call for Contributions

    Faculty members, professionals, research scholars, and students are invited to submit original research papers and articles aligned with the main theme and sub-themes of the seminar. The platform seeks to encourage critical engagement and interdisciplinary perspectives on strengthening democracy through responsible media practices.
