Interactive Session On Career Guidance In Legal Profession Conducted At RGNUL Punjab

Dr. Pradeep Rai, Senior Advocate delivered a lecture on Career Guidance in the Legal Profession at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab. While addressing the students, he emphasised the importance of consistent hard work, prioritising one's health, and enjoying college life without losing focus on long-term goals. He encouraged students to identify and start exploring a niche area of law early in their academic journey, as specialisation will inevitably hold value in future professional choices.
Dr. Rai also discussed the three-year rule in the judiciary examinations and noted that this period should be used meaningfully to acquire practical exposure and genuine legal insight. He advised students to have fun during their college years, but to remain mindful and deliberate in their actions.
He also highlighted that a lawyer must have complete mastery over the facts of the case and should know them inside out. During the session, two students, Pranjali and Kushank, narrated short factual stories, and Mr. Rai analysed the legal issues within them in an engaging and interactive manner. Through this exercise, he emphasised the importance of reading the entire brief, preparing a proper synopsis, identifying the legal points involved, framing the questions of law, and determining the relevant grounds. He stressed that these elements are crucial for dissecting a case effectively and presenting strong arguments before the court.
He concluded the session by wishing all the students the very best for their future and encouraged them to believe in their own capabilities. He also interacted with students and addressed their questions, noting that every conversation and every exchange contributes towards shaping one's personality and ultimately, shaping the lawyer they become.
