The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) inaugurated its Induction Programme 2026 on Wednesday, welcoming students admitted to the Five-Year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and One-Year LL.M. programmes. Prof. (Dr.) Venkata Rao, Vice-Chancellor of the India International University of Legal Education and Research (IIULER), Goa, inaugurated the programme and urged students to pursue knowledge with curiosity, uphold human values, and embrace lifelong learning.
In his inaugural address, Prof. Venkata Rao encouraged students to cultivate a genuine love for reading beyond academic requirements. Reflecting on the growing influence of artificial intelligence, he observed that while AI may attempt to mechanise human thought, it can never replicate the uniquely human qualities of compassion, empathy, and emotional intelligence. He urged students to preserve these values throughout their legal education and future professional careers.
Delivering the presidential address, Prof. (Dr.) G. B. Reddy, Vice-Chancellor, NUALS, warmly welcomed the incoming students and encouraged them to make the most of the University's academic, research, and co-curricular opportunities and strive for excellence in the legal profession.
The inaugural ceremony also featured the release of three NUALS publications and the launch of two institutional research initiatives, underscoring the University's continued commitment to academic excellence, legal scholarship, and socially relevant research.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Lina Acca Mathew, Registrar, NUALS, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Aparna Sreekumar, Assistant Professor, NUALS.
The six-day Induction Programme will continue until 21 July with sessions on legal education, academic and research methodologies, professional ethics, advocacy skills, internships, placements, student welfare, legal aid, alternative dispute resolution, cyber awareness, and other aspects of campus life, providing students with a comprehensive introduction to academic and professional life at NUALS.
