    5-day Orientation Programme for PhD research scholars commenced at the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab on 13th December 2021. Prof.G.S. Bajpai, Vice-Chancellor, RGNUL Punjab, delivered a lecture on "Introduction to Research Methodology". He drew the attention of the research scholars to the importance of the research method. "Method is superior to content," he remarked. He elaborated on the importance of formulating a good topic statement. "Research must be informed by theoretical framework," said Prof. Bajpai. While explaining the significance of theoretical framework, he emphasized that theory determined the limits of resesearch. He also dwelled on crucial role of literature review in the research process. Prof. Bajpai encouraged the research scholars to adopt alternative inquires and paradigm shift in methodology. " Research scholars must read Tom R. Tyler's Why People Obey Law and Martha Minow's Why Should Law Forgive," said Prof. Bajpai. He also delved into the four Ps of research (Person, Place, Problem and Phenomenon), replica study, doctrinal and non-doctrinal research.

    Prof. Naresh Kumar Vats, Registrar RGNUL, Dr Neeraj Pasricha, Administrative Officer and faculty of RGNUL were present during the inaugural sessions of the programme. RGNUL research scholars from all over India attended the orientation programme.
