The Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law (RGSOIPL), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, is set to organize the 6th Edition of the Masters Conference on Intellectual Property (MCIP 6.0) on 14th and 15th March 2026.

MCIP is a flagship academic initiative of RGSOIPL that has, over the years, emerged as a premier platform for scholarly engagement, research dissemination and interdisciplinary dialogue in the field of Intellectual Property Law, both at the national and international levels.

    Theme

The theme for MCIP 6.0 is “Exploring the Interdisciplinary Context of IP for Global Progress.”

The conference seeks to examine intellectual property not merely as a legal framework, but as a dynamic instrument influencing technological innovation, cultural expression, economic growth and equitable development across the globe.

    About MCIP 6.0

Building upon the success of its previous editions — MCIP 1.0 through MCIP 5.0 — RGSOIPL aims to further strengthen academic discourse by encouraging interdisciplinary perspectives on IP law.

The 2026 edition focuses on understanding how intellectual property interacts with diverse domains such as:

    • Technology and innovation

    • Media and creative industries

    • Business and entrepreneurship

    • Traditional knowledge systems

    • Social and economic development

The conference underscores the need to view IP as a driver of global progress, rather than a standalone legal mechanism.

    Objectives

    MCIP 6.0 aims to:

    • Bridge traditional IP frameworks with evolving global, technological and social realities

    • Encourage interdisciplinary research and dialogue

    • Provide a robust academic platform for young scholars and professionals

The conference is designed to facilitate meaningful academic engagement and knowledge exchange through paper presentations and interactive sessions.

    Participation

The event is open to master's students, research scholars and aspiring professionals from a wide range of disciplines, including:

    • Law

    • Engineering

    • Science

    • Philosophy

    • Other fields connected to the conference theme

RGSOIPL seeks to foster inclusive and interdisciplinary discussions, enabling participants to present diverse perspectives on contemporary intellectual property issues.

With MCIP 6.0, IIT Kharagpur's RGSOIPL continues its commitment to advancing intellectual property scholarship and nurturing future thought leaders in the IP ecosystem.
