RGNUL's Insolvency and Bankruptcy Law Division, working under the Centre for Business Laws and Taxation, is bringing back its international conference for a second edition this October. The idea behind it is fairly simple: the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code is now a decade old, and the world it operates in has changed a great deal since it was first drafted. Artificial intelligence is being used in resolution processes, digital assets are showing up in insolvency proceedings that no one anticipated, and questions around ESG and cross-border coordination are no longer theoretical.
Over two days, the conference will try to make sense of where the IBC stands today and where it is headed. The first day is built around panel discussions, with jurists, senior insolvency professionals and policy architects talking through these issues and taking questions from the floor. The second day belongs to research scholars and students, who will present papers that have gone through a double-blind review process. A number of these papers are expected to find their way into an edited volume or a law journal published in partnership with the conference.
Themes Being Discussed
1. AI, Technology and Insolvency Law
2. ESG, Climate Risk and Corporate Distress
3. Cryptocurrency and Digital Asset Insolvency
4. Personal Insolvency and Individual Debt
5. Preventive Restructuring and Pre-Insolvency Frameworks
6. Hybrid Insolvency–Arbitration Models
7. Statutory Early Warning Frameworks
Who It's For
The organisers have kept the invitation fairly wide. Law and postgraduate students from law, management and finance backgrounds are welcome, as are PhD scholars and academic researchers already working in this space. Insolvency and Resolution Professionals, advocates, and policymakers or regulators involved in shaping this area will find the discussions directly relevant, and the conference is also open to international delegates and foreign insolvency practitioners who want a sense of how India's regime is evolving.
Dates and Registration
1. Abstract submission closes on 10 August 2026
2. Full papers are due by 25 September 2026
3. The conference itself runs on 9–10 October 2026
4. Registration is Rs. 1000 for academicians, IPs, advocates and other stakeholders, and Rs. 750 for students and researchers (fees are non-refundable once paid)
