4th National Lok Adalat Strengthens Access To Justice With Resolution Of 2.59 Crore Cases

The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) successfully organised the 4th National Lok Adalat of 2025 on 13 December 2025, marking another significant milestone in strengthening access to justice through consensual dispute resolution. The National Lok Adalat was conducted across High Courts, District Courts, Tribunals, Consumer Forums, and Permanent Lok Adalats in 26 States and 8 Union Territories, reflecting its wide national footprint and coordinated implementation .The event was organised under the esteemed guidance of Justice Surya Kant, Chief Justice of India and Patron-in-Chief, NALSA, and Justice Vikram Nath, Judge, Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman, NALSA. While the Lok Adalat was held nationwide on 13 December 2025, specific dates were scheduled in certain jurisdictions—Rajasthan (19 December 2025 in the High Court and 21 December 2025 in District Courts, Tribunals, and Revenue Courts), Telangana (21 December 2025), and Delhi (10 January 2026) .The National Lok Adalat provided an effective platform for the resolution of both pre-litigation and pending cases across a broad spectrum of disputes. These included criminal compoundable offences, traffic challans, plea bargaining matters, revenue cases, bank recovery disputes, motor accident claims, cheque dishonour cases, labour and matrimonial disputes (excluding divorce cases), land acquisition matters, intellectual property rights disputes, consumer cases, and other civil disputes .According to preliminary reports received up to 6:30 PM on the day of the Lok Adalat, a total of 2,59,07,860 cases were resolved. This comprised 2,35,23,361 pre-litigation matters and 41,77,466 pending cases, with the total settlement value exceeding ₹7,747.47 crore. These figures are expected to increase further upon receipt of final reports from the State Legal Services Authorities .A key focus of the 4th National Lok Adalat was addressing matters reflected on the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG), enabling courts to convert pendency into real-time, amicable resolutions. The scale and diversity of settlements achieved underscore growing public and institutional confidence in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms and highlight a shift towards dialogue-based, cooperative justice delivery.The outcomes of the 4th National Lok Adalat reaffirm NALSA's commitment to a transparent, inclusive, and people-centric justice system. By aligning amicable settlement processes with national judicial data and institutional coordination, NALSA continues to strengthen an efficient, accessible, and fair justice delivery framework, ensuring that the promise of justice reaches all sections of society .
