A routine production of an undertrial prisoner, booked in an attempt to murder case, before the Dindoshi Court in Mumbai on Friday (October 23) took a shocking turn when the undertrial prisoner pushed the police officer and escaped from custody.

The Mumbai Police has now lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against the accused identified as Ibrahim Sajid Mujawar.

According to the FIR lodged at the Kurar Police Station, Mujawar was to be produced before the judge presiding over Court No 10 in Dindoshi Court in the western suburbs. He was taken out from the Arthur Road jail with the requisite warrants, etc. and was accordingly produced before the concerned criminal court at nearly 2 PM on Friday.

However, after the proceedings were conducted at nearly 4.15 PM, "the accused moved aside and went towards the police vehicle, in which he was to be taken back to the jail. There while standing, he suddenly pushed me and got rid of my custody and crossed the road. I tried to chase him but he took an autorickshaw and fled from the site by taking a rickshaw. Thus, he escaped from my lawful custody," Mane has said in his statement before the police.

The Police at present are searching for Mujawar who escaped from the Court premises.
