After Gujarat High Court last year announced that it would commence live streaming of Court proceedings on YouTube, the Karnataka High Court will today begin live-streaming proceedings on Youtube on a trial basis.

Today at 2:40 pm, the Live Telecast of Proceedings in WP 1322/2020 (PIL) Connected with WP 2336/2020 in Court Hall-1 would be telecast Live on Youtube.

Earlier, the Gujarat High Court had started live streaming on Youtube "With a view to effectuating and broadening the implementation of Open Court concept even during the virtual hearings of the Court."

This decision to telecast court proceedings on Youtube comes in the backdrop of the Supreme Court's verdict in Swapnil Tripathi v. Supreme Court of India, permitting live streaming of court hearings.

"Sunlight is the best disinfectant", the Top Court had remarked therein.

In related news, The Madhya Pradesh High Court & Allahabad High Court will hear this week the pleas by legal journalists who have moved the High Courts seeking permission for Live-streaming and Live-reporting.



While the Bench of Justices Sheel Nagu and Gurpal Singh Ahluwalia of Madhya Pradesh High Court will hear the matter today i.e., Monday (May 31), the Bench of Justice Pankaj Naqvi of the Allahabad High Court will hear the matter tomorrow, i.e., on Tuesday (June 1).
