What can the Court be expected to do when it comes across an affidavit sworn by a person with a colourful name "King Sahab", who is not even a party in the case?
In a petition filed in the Allahabad High Court for setting aside a case of domestic violence and dowry harassment, the affidavit was sworn by a person named "King Sahab".
When the Court asked who this "King Sahab" was, the counsel could not given a proper reply and submitted that he was a family friend of the first petitioner.
Later, a supplementary affidavit sworn by the first petitioner of the case was filed on the next hearing date.
But the Court was not satisfied with the lack of explanation about the deponent of the earlier affidavit.
Therefore, the bench of Justice Vivek Kumar Singh directed the Senior Superintendent of Police, Allahabad to produce 'King Sahab' before Court on May 31.
