"All 's well that ends well" said the Delhi High Court on Tuesday after taking note of the fact that the newly wedded couple was reunited pursuant to Court's order.

The Court disposed off a habeas corpus petition filed on behalf of a husband alleging that his wife was illegally detained in Uttar Pradesh's Etah District after her parents seperated them.

A division bench comprising of Justice Anup J Bhambhani and Justice Siddharth Mridul had therefore directed the Uttar Pradesh Police to depute a lady constable to company his wife along with a constable of Delhi Police to escort her back to Delhi and also to coordinate and reunite her with him.

During the course of hearing on Tuesday, the Court was apprised by the counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner that in compliance of the Court's order, the husband has been reunited with is wife and that the couple is residing in New Delhi at their matrimonial home.

"All 's well that ends well. In view of the foregoing, the relief prayed for in the present habeas corpus petition stands satisfied." The Court said.

However, the wife had stated that her family members had threatened her of dire consequences at the time she was leaving her house.

In view of this, the Court directed thus:

"In view of the foregoing, Inspector Yogendra, SHO, Police Station Anand Parbat, is directed to ensure safety and well-being of the newly-weds, Delhi, in terms of the directions issued by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in Ashok Kumar Todi vs. Kishwar Jahan reported as AIR 2011 SC 1254."

The husband in the Habeas Corpus petition had prayed for a direction to produce his wife who was illegally restrained from returning to Delhi in order to prevent her from residing with him.

The plea had averred that the newly wedded couple was seperated by wife's parents who had taken her to her parental home in UP's Etah district where she was detained against her will.

While reuniting the couple, the Court took note of the fact that the woman had married the petitioner out of her own free will on 10th June 2021 at the Arya Samaj Mandir, Rohini after which the newly wedded couple started living with the petitioner's family in Delhi.
