The Bar Council Of Kerala made history while it conducted a 'virtual' enrolment ceremony on Saturday.

785 Law Graduates, wore the lawyer's robes and enrolled as Advocates yesterday in a ceremony held through video conferencing.

The video conferencing was done through Cisco Webex Platform. The candidates were divided into several groups and batches and were allotted with a specific time slot for oath taking. The ceremony which started at 9am in the morning was completed at about 6pm in the evening. The candidates were required to take a print out of the enrollment oath to read it out during the ceremony.

One Harikrishnan had approached the High Court of Kerala seeking enrollment ceremony for new advocates to be held via video-conferencing amid the lockdown. Responding to this plea, the Council informed the High Court that it has decided to conduct an "online enrolment" programme for new lawyers, on June 27, 2020.

Before the final enrollment on Saturday, the Bar Council had conducted "Trial runs" on June 16, to check the technical feasibility of the process of enrolment; on June 17, explain online enrolment procedures to; and on June 26, exactly like online enrolment.
