The Bar Council of Delhi has written to the Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi, and other judges of the Collegium, requesting them to consider elevating the Delhi High Court Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Bombay High Court Chief Justice Pradeep Nandrajog to the Supreme Court of India.

The dropping of the names of both Justice Nandrajog and Justice Menon by the Collegium early this year and Justice Sanjiv Khanna superseding them and many other senior judges had caused disquiet among the legal fraternity.

The BCD under the chairmanship of advocate K C Mittal has requested the CJI and brother judges on the Collegium -- Justices Arun Mishra, AK Sikri, SA Bobde and NV Ramana-- to consider elevating Justice Menon and Justice Nandrajog besides other senior judges of the Delhi High Court to the Supreme Court considering the laurels and appreciation they have brought to the Delhi High Court.

The council resolved to request the CJI and other judges of the collegium to elevate Justice Menon to the Supreme Court while expressing great appreciation for his knowledge and acumen besides the high standard and cordial relationship he has maintained with the Bar.

The Council also resolved to request the collegium to consider Justice Nandrajog for elevation to the Ssupreme Court.

The Bar then wrote to the CJI and other judges of the collegium wherein it expressed gratitude for recognizing the performance of the Delhi High Court.

"The credit goes to the Hon'ble Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court and other Hon'ble judges, as also the members of the Bar, for bringing laurels to the institution," said Mittal in his letter to the CJI.

"We would also request Your Honour and other Hon'ble judges of the collegium to elevate Hon'ble Mr Justice Rajendra Menon, ,Chief Justice of Delhi High Court and Hon'ble Mr Justice Pradeep Nandrajog, Chief Justice of Bombay High Court, to the Supreme Court of India and also consider other senior judges from Delhi High Court," said the letter.
