The Bihar State Legal Services Authority recently concluded a 21-day winter internship program for law students hailing from various law colleges across India. Commencing on January 3, 2024, the program wrapped up with a valedictory session held on January 23, 2024.
The comprehensive internship aimed to provide students with insights into both academic and practical dimensions of law. Various sessions were conducted, delving into significant legal frameworks and acts. The topics covered included:
1. Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987,
2. Various Schemes of NALSA,
3. Bihar State Legal Services Authority Rules and Regulations,
4. BSLSA Scheme for Transgender "SITARA,"
5. Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act 2019 and Rules 2020,
6. Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 and Rules 2020,
7. Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (Prevention and Control) Act, 2017,
8. Human Rights Act, 1993,
9. Advocates Act, 1961, and Bar Council Rules,
10. Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015,
11. Indian Penal Code and Criminal Procedure Code,
12. Cyber Laws.
Special emphasis was given to procedural laws, and arrangements were made for students to gain firsthand knowledge. Visits were organized to various institutions, including Police Stations, Civil Courts, District Legal Services Authority, Jail, and Senior Citizen Homes.
As an integral part of the internship, all law students actively participated in the creation of documentaries covering diverse legal topics such as Injunction, N.I Act, Arrest and rights of the accused, Plea bargaining, Compounding of offenses, Dowry prohibition, Victim compensation, Arbitration and mediation, and Lok Adalat.
