    After Mamata Banerjee and other 4 leaders moved the Calcutta High Court challenging the election win of their opponents in the recently concluded West Bengal assembly polls, now a BJP leader has also moved the Court challenging the election results in which he was defeated by a TMC candidate.

    BJP leader Biswanath Banerjee who lost the election from Mahishadal Vidhan Sabha constituency [by 2386 votes] has moved the court for a review of the results. The petition will be heard on Monday by Justice Md. Nizamuddin.

    In the 2021 WB Assembly elections, Tilak Kumar Chakraborty of TMC had contested and won against Biswanath Banerjee of BJP. It falls under the Purba Medinipur Lok Sabha constituency and is also a part of the Purba Medinipur district. While Tilak Kumar Chakraborty of TMC got a total of 101986 votes (46.49%), BJP leader Biswanath Banerjee had got 99600 votes (45.41%).

    Already, 4 TMC leaders have moved to the Calcutta High Court, namely Alorani Sarkar, Sangram Kumar Dolai, Manas Majumder, and Shantiram Mahato, who lost narrowly in the recent Assembly Election to the BJP Candidate.

    The Calcutta High Court last month issued a notice to BJP MLA from Moyna Constituency and Cricketer Ashoke Dinda on the election plea filed by AITC leader Sangram Kumar Dolai. Sangram Dolai had lost to BJP's Ashok Dinda by 1,260 votes in Moyna Constituency and thus, in his election plea, he had alleged irregularities in counting.

    Hearing the matter, Justice Tirthankar Ghosh had observed that prima facie, a case had been made out for issuance of notice against the respondent.

    West Bengal's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has moved an Election Petition before the Calcutta High Court challenging Suvendu Adhikary's election win from the Nandigram constituency in the West Bengal Assembly Polls. Justice Kausik Chanda, who was set to hear the matter, has reserved an order on the recusal application moved by Banerjee. The CM has objected to Justice Chanda hearing her petition citing "likelihood of bias "due to the associations they had with BJP during his days as a lawyer.

    As per the media reports, at least eight leaders of the BJP moved to the Calcutta High Court seeking recounting of the votes.
