Central Government Notifies 18.07.2023 As Effective Date For Section 12 Of The Competition (Amendment) Act, 2023

On July 18, 2023, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs issued a notification in the Gazette of India, stating that the provision of section 12 of the Competition (Amendment) Act, 2023 would come into effect from the same date, July 18, 2023.
Section 12 of the Competition (Amendment) Act relates to the Appointment of a Director General, by the Commission with prior approval of the Central Government, to assist the Commission in conducting an inquiry into if any provision of this Act is contravened. This Section of the Competition (Amendment) Act, 2023 amends Section 16 of the Competition Act, 2002.
The other provisions of the Competition (Amendment) Act came into force on 18th May 2023.
