In the constantly evolving social media and an increasingly higher percentage of people taking to it to discuss and dissect judicial decisions or administration of justice, all "court officials" of the six district courts of Delhi have been warned not to upload/publish official communication on WhatsApp, Facebook etc., without prior permission.

A circular to this effect was issued by District and Sessions Judge (Head Quarters) Talwant Singh.

"It has been noticed that some of the court officials are in the habit of publishing/ uploading notings of files/ minutes of meetings/ orders/ official communications of this office on social media like WhatsApp, Facebook etc without any official permission from the undersigned (District and Sessions Judge (Head Quarters).

"All court officials are hereby warned not to publish/ upload notings of files/ minutes of meetings/ orders/ official communications on social media and in case any such publishing/ uploading on social media is found in future, stern departmental action shall be initiated against the erring official(s)," warns the circular.

The circular comes amidst the ongoing debates over courts, judges and lawyers taking to social media and its impact of administration of justice.
