A Delhi Court on Saturday issued bailable warrants against YouTuber Dhruv Rathee in a 2018 defamation case.

The case pertains to a complaint filed by Vikas Sanskrityayan alleging that Rathee posted a video which is alleged to be defamatory in nature.

It was alleged that by the complainant that a video titled, 'BJP IT Cell Part II' was published and circulated by Rathee who lives in Germany, making several false allegations against the complainant.

Judicial Magistrate First Class South East Rahul Jain of Saket Courts issued the bailable warrants, after the Court was informed that notice was served to Rathee but the premises was locked.

This was after the judge, earlier this week, issued fresh summons to Rathee, after the complainant moved an application seeking pre-ponement of the matter which was otherwise listed on November 20.

The complainant had filed an application seeking preponement of the hearing on the ground that Rathee, who ordinarily resides abroad was presently in India with respect to the "CJP protest".

He had thus sought issuance of fresh summons so that prompt steps for service upon Rathee could be taken, arguing that the service of summons had been delayed for the last several years as Rathee lives abroad. He also claimed that he has information about Rathee's residence in Haryana.

The matter is now listed on October 31.
