The Delhi High Court has sought response of the Centre and Delhi Government in a plea filed by a 84 year old woman seeking door to door vaccination policy for super senior and bed ridden citizens on urgent basis in the national capital.

A division bench comprising of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh issued notice on the plea. The plea additionally seeks directions on respondents to introduce a helpline number for registeration of Covid 19 vaccine.

The plea has been moved by an 84 year old woman who is mostly bed ridden for the reason of suffering from arthritis and who is at a high risk of getting exposed to the covid 19 virus if she goes out to the vaccination centre.

Along with highlighting the difficulties faced by the old woman, the petition, moved through Advocate Dhiraj Aggarwal espouses the cause of other fellow super senior and bed ridden citizens like her who do not have the requisite facilities to get themselves registered on CoWin Application and thereby going to the Vaccination centres.

The plea also avers that many foreign countries like Singapore and Australia have a system of Vaccinating old age and bed ridden citizens at their home by sending a team of doctor and a nurse for vaccinating them.

"Because it is obligatory duty of the respondent no. I and 2 to take care of super senior and bed ridden citizens so denying the vaccine by not introducing a helpline number for registration of covid-19 vaccine and a policy on urgent basis for door to door covid-19 vaccination for super senior and bed ridden citizens in Delhi is against the fundamental right to life of a citizen." The plea reads.
