Delhi High Court has issued notices in a plea asking for the National Investigation Agency to investigate the funding and sponsoring of protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act.

The Division Bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Hari Shankar has issued notices to Union Government, Delhi Government, and Commissioner of Delhi Police.

Moved by Ajay Gautam, the petition has asked for identification of roads in North East districts of Delhi which are allegedly blocked due to the ongoing Anti-CAA protests.

    It is stated:

'despite the fact that CAA is pending adjudication before the Apex court the members of Muslim community in several parts of the country and specially in National Capital in various place of Delhi like Saheen Bagh, Seelampur, Jafrabaad, Jheel Khureje , Inder lok, Okhla and many other places have blocked several important and crucial roads in utter disregard and disrespect towards the Hon'ble Supreme Court and the Parliament as well as democratic procedure and in fact they have resorted to anarchy and have created havoc and chaos in almost every part of the city and country. '

In addition to this, the Petitioner has also sought court's direction to have NIA investigate the Anti-CAA protestors and the persons who are funding and sponsoring them.

He has termed all these persons as 'anti-national' in the petition. 'They give life threatening slogans against the Prime Minister', he says.

'the pattern of protest is also very suspicious. Old women and children are being used as main protesters and the men of their community stand behind them and they openly behave as if they are from Palestine or agents of Gulf countries', the petition claims.

Further, the Petitioner has also asked for deployment of 'appropriate force' to control the worsening situation in the areas of Delhi which are marred by riots. Moreover, he has asked for the arrest of 'miscreants' who are responsible for killing people and causing damage to properties.

The petition goes on to state that:

'That it is not a normal protest; it is submitted that anti national and Anti-Hindu forces are behind these protests and some vested interests/parties/countries are funding these protesters.'

Petitioner has also claimed that these protests are allegedly funded by PFI, which as per him is anti national, and the same are supported by political parties such as Congress and Aam Aadmi Party.

In addition to these claims, the Petitioner has also asked for FIR to be registered against political leaders such as Waris Pathan, Asaduddin Owaisi and Salman Khurshid, for allegedly making inflammatory and hate speeches.
