Delhi High Court Issues Notice In Plea Seeking Establishment Of Covid Centre With ICU, Ventilators For Public Prosecutors

The Delhi High Court on Monday issued notice in a plea seeking establishment of covid care centre having atleast 100 beds with ICU and Ventilator facility for public prosecutors and staff of Delhi Prosecution Department and their family members.Aa division bench comprising of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh issued notice in the plea filed by one Dishank Dhawan stating that the public prosecutors and other staff of the prosecution department have been risking exposure to covid 19 virus everyday but are still serving the State, as an important component of the criminal justice system, with utmost dedication and sincerity.Stating that there is an environment of anguish and pain all over the country owing to the lack of necessary resources, the plea avers that many Public Prosecutors were unable to secure beds in hospitals of Delhi and had to move at far flung places for the purpose of treatment."That in view of the above scenario, the grouse is that the Public Prosecutors, and other staff of the prosecution department of the Govt. of NCT of Delhi are an indispensable part of criminal system and have been risking their lives incessantly since the outset of this pandemic." The plea states.Senior Advocate and Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Mr. K.T.S. Tulsi argued for the Petitioner. He was assisted by Advocate, Ms. Tanessa Puri and the Petitioner, APP Adv. Dishank Dhawan along with Adv. Shalabh Gupta. The Court will now hear the matter next on 4th June 2021.The plea states the following prayers:- Establish dedicated COVID center having atleast 100 beds with ICU/ventilator facility for Public Prosecutors and other staff of the prosecution department of the Govt. of NCT of Delhi including their family members, on an urgent basis.- Ensure sufficient medical oxygen and oxygen concentrators are available for Public Prosecutors and other staff of the prosecution department of the Govt. of NCT of Delhi including their family members.- Provide vaccination to Public Prosecutors and other staff of the prosecution department of the Govt. of NCT of Delhi including their family members in the said dedicated facility with strict monitoring by the concerned police station.- Provide dedicated ambulance for Public Prosecutors and other staff of the prosecution department of the Govt. of NCT of Delhi including their family members.- Employ young doctors and other relevant medical staff on contract basis to reduce the burden on the existing medical system.- Treat the Public Prosecutors, and other staff of the prosecution department of the Govt. of NCT of Delhi as frontline workers.Click Here To Read Petition
