Hindu Sena Chief Seeks Delhi LG's Sanction For Prosecution Against Kamal Haasan For His Alleged Derogatory Remarks Associating Terrorism With Hindu Religion

Hindu Sena Chief Vishnu Gupta has sought prosecution sanction from Delhi's Lt. Governor, Anil Baijal in a complaint filed against Kamal Haasan, President of the Tamil Nadu based political party Makkal Needhi Maiam, for his alleged derogatory remarks associating terrorism with Hindu religion.According to the complaint, Kamal Haasan had contested in the 17th General Elections from the said political party. On 12th May 2019, Kamal Hassan, being the President of the said party had allegedly addressed a huge gathering of Muslim population while campaigning from Aravakurichi Assembly constituency wherein the following remarks were made:"I am not saying this because many Muslims are here. I am saying this in front of Mahatma Gandhi's statue. First terrorist in independent lndia is a Hindu, his name is Nathuram Godse."The complainant has alleged that the said remarks were made with the mala-fide and criminal intention to ridicule the Hindu Religion and to promote feelings of enmity hatred between Hindus and Muslims.The complaint has been filed under sec. 153A and 295A of Indian Penal Code at the Patiala House Court which is fixed for hearing on 4th June 2021."That the accused had while making the above said remarks deliberately and maliciously passed absolutely derogatory comments to outrage religious feelings of Hindus by associating terrorism with Hindu Religion without any justification with the sole intention to promote enmity between Hindus and Muslims and outrage religious feelings and religious beliefs of Hindus along with the religious feelings of the Complainant. The accused was very well aware while making the said remarks with the intention of outraging religious feelings to insult religion and religious belief of Hindus along with the complainant that his insulting remarks will be heard and seen by citizens of India through TV and electronic media. That the provocative and outrageous remarks made by the accused are grossly otfensive and deliberately intended to outrage the feeling of complainant and Hindus living in India and in other countries." The complaint reads. In view of the case being at the Pre summoning of evidence stage, sanction is required by the State in such prosecution under the mandate of sec. 196(1) of Cr.PC. Therefore, the complainant has sought sanction to prosecute Kamal Hassan in the said case.
