Delhi High Court has asked the Delhi Government to submit a reply stating whether the services of the accused, who is a doctor, can be utilised at any hospital during the pandemic, if he's released on bail.

The Single Bench of Justice Prathiba M Singh further asked the accused doctor to submit his employment details in order to substantiate his claim that he can be of use to the society if his interim bail is further extended.

The order has come in a plea moved for extension of interim bail by a doctor who's accused of offences such as dowry death and domestic violence.

In his plea, the Petitioner cited his mother's surgery and the fact that there's no one to take care of his child as grounds to claim extension of his interim bail.

While looking at his averments, the court noted that:

'Considering the fact that the Petitioner is a doctor, who was working at the National Centre for Disease Control and whose services can be better utilised during the outbreak of this pandemic.'

Therefore, the court issued notice to the Delhi Government and asked it to file a reply stating as to whether the Petitioner, while on bail, can render his services at any hospital during this pandemic.

The court will next take up the matter on July 27.

The Petitioner was represented by Mr. Mahavir Sharma, Ms. Nikita Agarwal and Mr. Kanwarpreet Singh.
