The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has withdrawn an advertisement issued by it which invited applications from all over the country to fill vacancies in the district courts of the newly created Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

"It is hereby notified for information of all concerned that the advertisement Notice No. 09/2019 dated 26.12.2019, whereby applications were invited for different posts in Non-Gazetted category in the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir stands withdrawn with immediate effect", reads the Notification issued on Monday by Registrar General.

Since J&K has been now made a Union Territory, the Notification dated 26.12.2019 had invited job applications from across the country to fill in 33 vacancies which includes the posts of senior scale stenographer, junior scale stenographer, steno typist, compositor, electrician and driver.

There were protests in Jammu region against the advertisement which offered job to 'outsiders' and 'non-locals'. The cancellation notification does not contain any reasons for withdrawing the advertisement.
