Justice Pratibha M Singh, judge of the Delhi High Court has been featured in IP 50 Most Influential People In IP 2021 Judges list. The list reveals Managing IP's pick of the people who have driven the intellectual property law, policy and business for the year 2021. The list involves 5 different categories including 21 industry leaders, 9 public officials, 9 judges, 6 IP authorities and 5 notable individuals. Justice Pratibha M Singh is one of the 9 judges included in the list. Justice Singh was part of the committee that had recommended creating the Delhi High Court IP Division specialised for dealing with Intellectual Property cases, which was established in July this year.The Delhi High Court had established the Intellectual Property Division (IPD) to deal with all matters related to Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). The IP deals with original proceedings, Writ Petitions (Civil), CMM, RFA, FAO on Intellectual Property Rights disputes, except those required to be dealt with by the Division Bench.The Court had also proposed the Draft Intellectual Property Rights Division Rules, 2021. Justice Prathiba M. Singh completed her 5 year law course from University Law College, Bangalore. She was offered the ODASSS scholarship by the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust to study LL.M at the University of Cambridge (U.K.). She had then enrolled with the Bar in 1991.Before being elevated to the Bench, she was a leading Intellectual Property lawyer in India. She had the distinction of handling landmark matters in all areas of IPR laws including patents, trademarks, designs, copyright, plant varieties, internet laws, etc.She was a member of the IPR Think Tank, which was entrusted with the momentous task of drafting India's first `National IPR Policy' which was released in May, 2015.Additionally, the list also includes the name of Advocate Ankit Sahni. "In late 2020, India-based IP attorney Ankit Sahni made history when he succeeded in obtaining a copyright registration in which an artificial intelligence tool was listed as a co-author," it reads.
