AG To Hear Sanction Petition Seeking Contempt Action Against Congress' VD Satheesan For Remarks On Kerala High Court Ex-CJ

The Advocate General's Office has issued a notice of hearing in the sanction petition preferred by Advocate Ramees P.K. to initiate contempt of court proceedings against Leader of the Opposition, V.D. Satheesan.
As per the notice issued to the petitioner, the sanction petition is posted for hearing on March 3, 2026 at 4.00 p.m. He is to appear before the Advocate General, either in person or through an advocate.
Further, it clarified that in case of default in appearance, the matter would be decided as per the records available.
The sanction petition was initiated to proceed against Satheesan for his alleged contemptuous remarks made against former Chief Justice while answering a media query.
The media had questioned Satheesan regarding an oral remark by Chief Justice Desai while hearing a public interest litigation preferred seeking a CBI probe into the execution of the Kerala Fiber Optic Network Project Ltd. (K-FON).
