The High Court of Kerala on Monday directed the Kerala Government to submit a report regarding the steps taken to provide food and shelter to migrant workers throughout the State.

A division bench comprising Justices A K Jayasankaran Nambiar and Shaji P Chaly passed the order on an application filed by amicus curaie appointed by the Court, Advocate Parvathy Sanjay, voicing the apprehension of the migrant workers of Ernakulam District and Kottayam District and also seeking direction to provide them with food and shelter.

The Additional Advocate General told the Court that all measures in that regard have been taken, including adequate provision for recreation.

The Court will consider the matter next on April 3.
