The Kerala High Court Advocates' Association (KHCAA) is convening an urgent General Body meeting on Friday (August 14) to discuss recent attack on advocate's family by the litigant's husband and another.

The meeting would be held today at 1:05 p.m. at the Association Hall. The KHCAA has requested the presence of all members to participate in the discussion and show solidarity.

The assault was perpetrated against the lawyer's parents, aged 80 and 79 years, yesterday evening at around 5:30 p.m in their family home.

Following the incident, the Narakal Police Station (Ernakulam Rural) has registered a case against Velu and Vavakutty in the early hours today based on the complaint given by the lawyer's mother from the hospital.

The offences alleged are those under Sections 333 [House-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint], 351(3) [Criminal intimidation], 118(1) [Voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means], 109(1) [Attempt to murder], 3(5) [Common intention] of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

As per the FIR, the attack was as a result of the grudge held against the lawyer for taking up the brief of the attacker's wife. It is alleged that the assailants entered the lawyer's house armed with a knife, and attacked his aged parents as they were sitting in the verandah.
