Speaking at the live streaming of Gujarat High Court proceedings event, Dr. Justice D. Y. Chandrachud, Judge & Chairman, e-committee of the Supreme Court of India made some important remarks highlighting the necessity of the Live Streaming Court's proceedings.

He stressed that Live Streaming has become a necessity and that it adds to transparency.

"Even after the pandemic ends, Live streaming would demystify court proceedings for court proceedings and will convey the message that courts are for the people. People get to know that Judges are actually at work" he added.

He also spoke about the misconceptions that prevail regarding Judges' functioning. He said:

"We are targetted for the Holidays we take but Judges are working every single part of the day, it is easy to target judges for the holidays that we have, but people don't understand the immensity of the work that the judges do even when they have time off."

Justice Chandrachud also lauded the efforts of Gujarat High Court's Chief Justice Vikram for taking the initiative to Live Stream HC's proceedings.

He said that despite Swapnil Tripathi's Judgment, there was not much progress, so I called up CJ Vikram Nath and talked about it and he told me that GujaratHC would start live streaming of court proceedings, I stood by him and see, we are here now in less than 10 months.

Talking about the work that the E-Committee takes up and as to what it has done in the recent past, Justice Chandrachud said:

"From March 24, 2020 to July 14, 2021, 1 Crore 60 lakh cases were registered and we (SC, HCs, and District Judiciary) disposed of 1 Crore cases."

Justice Chandrachud also said that since he is an optimistic person and that he believes that the member of Bar are extraordinarily responsible and they will use this opportunity to responsibly conduct the live proceedings.

Lastly, he appreciated the initiative started by the Gujarat High Court and hoped that it shall be replicated by the rest of the country.

"Happy that Gujarat has initiated the initiative. Gujarat is a progressive state and we are impressed by the dedication of the High Court towards nation's service," said Justice Chandrachud.
