    In view of commencement of third phase of the national lockdown, a division bench of Chief Justice Govind Mathur and Justice Siddhartha Varma has further extended all interim orders passed by it and by the courts subordinate to it, that expired subsequent to March 19, till June 3.

    Further, orders of eviction, dispossession or demolition and orders of anticipatory bail expiring on or before May 17 have also been extended till June 3.

    The order has been passed in a suo moto case, to ensure that litigants do not suffer on account of their "inability to approach the Courts of law":

    "(i) All interim orders passed by the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad well as at Lucknow, all the District Courts, Civil Courts, Family Courts, Labour Courts, Industrial Tribunals and all other Tribunals in the State over which this Court has power of superintendence, which have been expired subsequent to 19th March, 2020 or are due to expire within a period of one month from today, will continue to operate upto 3rd June, 2020. We, however, make it clear that those interim orders which are not of a limited duration and are to operate till further orders will remain unaffected;

    (ii) If a bail has been granted in anticipation as an interim measure for a specific period and that period is going to expire on or before 17th May, 2020, the same shall stand extended upto 3rd June, 2020.

    (iii) If any orders of eviction, dispossession or demolition are already passed by the High Court, District or Civil Courts, the same shall remain in abeyance till 3rd June, 2020 or having any order order by the court competent, whichever is earlier."

    On promulgation of the nationwide lockdown, the High Court had vide order dated March 26, extended all interim orders till April 26. Subsequent to extension of the lockdown for further 19 days, the interim orders were extended till May 10, vide order dated April 22.

    However, in light of extension third phase of the lockdown now, the High Court said it "deemed appropriate" to modify that order and grant extension till June 3.
