The Narcotics Control Bureau on Tuesday assured the Sessions Court in Mumbai that Karishma Prakash, actor Deepika Padukone's manager, will not be arrested until the next date of hearing in the case which is November 7 after her lawyer told the Court that she was ready to cooperate in the investigation.

Karishma Prakash was summoned by the NCB after the agency seized 1.7 grams of hashish from her residence last month along with CBD oil. She failed to appear before the central drug agency earlier and was allegedly evading them, fearing arrest.

Judge GB Gurao heard Karishma's pre arrest bail application and after hearing both sides adjourned the case till November 7.

Karishma's lawyer Senior Advocate Aabad Ponda submitted that his client was ready to cooperate in the investigation by NCB and appear before them. Following this, prosecution assured the Court that no coercive steps will be taken against the applicant and she will not be arrested till the next date of hearing.

After the Central Bureau of Investigation started probing the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the NCB took over investigation in relation to the alleged 'drugs angle' in the case. As per reports, NCB accessed whatsapp group chat of which actor Deepika Padukone was also a part. In relation to this, NCB questioned Deepika Padukone as well. Other actors like Shraddha Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and Rakulpreet Singh have also been questioned in the case.

Last month, the Bombay High Court granted bail to actor Rhea Chakraborty in NCB's case against her and others under various provisions of the Narcotics Drugs Psychotropic Substances Act for allegedly procuring drugs for Sushant Singh Rajput.

Justice SV Kotwal had observed that the actor was not a part of drug dealers and that "she has not forwarded the drugs allegedly procured by her to somebody else to earn monetary or other benefits."
