Oudh Bar Association Hosts 'Know Your Bar, Know Your Bench' Workshop For Incoming Advocates

The Oudh Bar Association (OBA) at the High Court, Lucknow, successfully concluded its first-ever three-day "Know Your Bar and Know Your Bench" (KYB) workshop.
Organised exclusively for young, incoming advocates prior to granting them official membership of the Association, the initiative aimed to instil the rich legal traditions and etiquette required to maintain the profession's highest dignity.
OBA General Secretary Lalit Kishore Tiwari said that this is a first in the illustrious history of the Bar Association. Its primary objective is the holistic development of young lawyers, equipping them with the nuances of legal practice.
As outlined in the official event notification, the applicants were divided into three batches, and the sessions were held at the Mahamana Hall on April 23, 27, and 29, 2026.
Distinguished Guidance from the Bench
The three-day event witnessed the gracious presence of several Hon'ble Justices of the High Court, who guided the young legal minds:
Session 1 (April 23): Justice Rajan Roy graced the event as the Chief Guest, accompanied by Justice Manjeev Shukla as the Guest of Honor.
Session 2 (April 27): Justice Abdul Moin attended as the Chief Guest, with Justice Jaspreet Singh and Justice Subhash Vidyarthi serving as Guests of Honour.
Session 3 (April 29): Justice Sriprakash Singh presided as the Chief Guest, alongside Justice Syed Qamar Hasan Rizvi and Justice Prashant Kumar as Guests of Honor.
Mastering Court Craft and Etiquette
Under the leadership of OBA President Pt. S. Chandra and Senior Vice President Dr. Shailendra Sharma 'Atal', the newly inducted advocates were meticulously briefed on crucial aspects of their daily practice.
Eminent Senior Advocates of the High Court, including Mr. S.K. Kalia, Mr. H.G.S. Parihar, Mr. Sharad Pathak, Mr. N.K. Seth, Mr. R.S. Pandey, Mr. Gaurav Mehrotra, Mr. Purnendu Chakraborty, and Mr. Amarendra Nath Tripathi, shared their profound experiences.
The core topics of discussion included proper court uniform and attire, respect for senior advocates, standard courtroom behaviour, meticulous case preparation, and effective methods of presenting arguments.
Celebrating a Glorious Heritage
A special highlight of the concluding session was the screening of a short documentary film showcasing the glorious history and rich culture of the Oudh Bar Association, which was established in 1901. This visual journey deeply familiarised the young advocates with the legacy they are stepping into.
The event's massive success was credited to the dedicated efforts of the OBA's executive committee, including Vice Presidents Hari Om Pandey, Pawan Singh and Raghvendra Pandey; Joint Secretaries Gaurav Srivastava, Angad Prasad Shukla, and Ashutosh Singh; Treasurer Alok Kumar Tripathi, alongside other active members like Ranjana Srivastava, Ajay Singh, Nilima Jaiswal, Ram Sufal Yadav, Pawan Singh, Diwakar Nath Mishra, Kaushal Mani Tripathi, Nivedita Gupta, Ankit Mishra, Pushpanjali Pandey and Shweta Singh.
