The Rajasthan High Court has sought a report on the medical condition of Asaram Bapu, life convict in a sexual assault case, who is presently undergoing treatment at AIIMS, Jodhpur.

A Division Bench of Justices Sandeep Mehta and Devendra Kachhawaha, hearing a petition for suspension of his sentence on medical grounds has summoned the latest medical report for its perusal on May 21.

Another Bench comprised of Justice Vinit Kumar Mathur, which is hearing a writ petition filed by Asaram's son seeking permission to administer Ayurveda treatment to his father, has also asked the State Government to place the medical report on record on May 26.

Narayan Sai, Asaram's son, moved the High Court alleging that the health condition of his father has been deteriorating over the past three years of judicial custody due to inappropriate and inefficient medical treatment being offered to him by the prison authorities.
