Social media influencer Sapna Gill has filed a private complaint in a Magistrate’s court seeking an FIR against cricketer Prithvi Shaw and his friend for molestation alleging that she was assaulted at the time of the incident by the inebriated cricketer.

Gill has filed a second complaint, against two police officers from Airport Police Station for dereliction of duty and failing to register her complaint against Shaw. Both matters will be taken up on April 17.

The Oshiwara Police in Mumbai arrested Gill and three others for allegedly abusing and attacking Shaw, and damaging his car after he refused to take repeated selfies on February 15. Shaw and his friends were having dinner at Hotel Sahara Star at the time when Gill and her friend Shobit Thakur sought more selfies, it is alleged.

Following this, when Prithvi Shaw and his friend were leaving the hotel at 4 am, Gill along with her friends came on motorcycles and a car and abused them, they claimed.

Subsequently, all the accused were granted bail by the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate’s court. Gill has now approached the Bombay High Court to quash the FIR against her.

In the fresh complaints Gill has sought for Shaw and his friend Ashish Surendra Yadav to be booked under Sections 354 (molestation), 509 (insult to modesty), 324 (hurt with a dangerous weapon) of IPC for assaulting her with bat, annexed the medical proof of government hospital along which is a vital evident document proving sexual assault.

She said that only her friend went to Shaw to ask for a selfie. Both Shaw and his friend were in an inebriated state and therefore her friend was met with hostility. When she tried to help her friend, she was pushed away and they were assaulted with a baseball bat, Gill added in her complaint filed through advocate Ali Kashiff Khan.

“Complainant intervened and entered the fray trying to stop the Accused No.1 (Prithvi Shaw) and the other Accused(s) from further harming and injuring Thakur. Complainant states that she begged and pleaded with Accused no.1 (Shaw) who was completely inebriated at the time.”
