A fresh plea has been moved before a court in Mathura seeking the presence of officials of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) during the time when Court Amin inspects/surveys the Eidgah mosque premises, pursuant to Court's December 22 order, in connection with the Sri Krishna Janmasthan-Shahi Idgah dispute case. The plea has been moved by the National Treasurer of the Akhil Bharat...

The plea has been moved by the National Treasurer of the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, Dinesh Sharma in the suit (Bhagwan Balkrishna vs. Intezamia Committee) filed by the National President of Hindu Sena (through Advocate Shailesh Dube), Vishnu Gupta seeking possession of the Shahi Idgah premises and demolition of the present structure situated there.

It may be noted hearing Gupta's plea, Civil Judge III Sonika Verma had, on December 22, directed the Civil Court Amin (also known as court officers) to visit and survey the disputed site and submit a report (with maps) before the Court by January 20.

Now, seeking ASI officials' presence during the survey/inspection, the instant plea has been moved by Gupta by stating thus:

"The court has passed an order to get the status of the spot through 'Amin Sahab', but regarding the installation of the stones in the Idgah, and to bring the correct facts, and to reach the correct conclusion, it is necessary that the officials of the Archaeological Survey of India are present during the inspection by 'Amin sahab' and they should note down all the facts and give their suggestions regarding the age of the stones."

The plea also alleges that in the Eidgah, the stones of the ancient temple, mythological inscriptions, and artworks have been installed and the stones of all the artifacts of Thakur ji have been replaced making it appear as if the remains of the ancient temple have been buried in Idgah.

In view of this, the plea prays that the directions as prayed for in the plea be passed.

It may be noted that on Monday, the Shahi Idgah Mosque Committee filed an application before the Mathura Court objecting to the Court's order for an 'Amin survey' of the mosque premises.

It is important to mention that in the suit in question (Bhagwan Balkrishna vs. Intezamia Committee), plaintiff Gupta has challenged the ownership of 13.77-acre land on which the Idgah is built. The suit states that the Idgah was constructed by Aurangzeb on the 13.37 acres of Shri Krishna's birthplace after demolishing the Sri Krishna temple.

In view of this, the suit seeks the cancellation of the agreement between Sri Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sangh and Shahi Idgah executed in the year 1968, calling it illegal.

This suit is one of the many suits filed before the Court demanding the demolition of the 17th-century Shahi Idgah Masjid claiming the same to be built on Krishna Janambhumi's property.

It may be noted that Mathura's Shahi Idgah Masjid is located next to the Krishna Janmabhoomi, which is believed to be the birthplace of the Hindu deity Krishna.
