    The Telangana High Court Bar Association has resolved to abstain from Court work indefinitely to protest against the proposal of the Supreme Court collegium to transfer Justice Abhishek Reddy to Patna High Court. 

    Following reports regarding the proposal to transfer Justice Reddy, an extraordinary meeting of the Association was called today afternoon. The entire court work of the High Court got suspended from 3 PM, as the lawyers abstained from appearing. 

    V Raghunath, the President of the Association, told LiveLaw that the move to transfer Justice Reddy, a senior judge of the High Court, is "arbitrary" and "affects the independence of the judiciary". He said that there are no guidelines regarding transfer of judges.

    The Association appealed to the Supreme Court Collegium to withdraw the proposal to transfer Justice Reddy and decided to boycott courts till the demand is met.

    After passing the resolution, the High Court lawyers held a protest march, which witnessed huge turnout, said Raghunath.

    In a related news, the Gujarat High Court Bar Association also resolved today to abstain from Court appearances to protest against the Supreme Court Collegium proposal to transfer Justice Nikhil Kariel to Patna High Court.
