Telangana High Court Raps Advocate For Arraying Judicial Officer As Party Respondent, Bats For 'Training Program' For Young Lawyers

The Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court has shown willingness to establish a training program for new lawyers having a tenure of up to 0 to 5 years, so as to give the young lawyers a basic foundation. “I had thought of a training program for the lawyers between 0-5 years so at least they know how to address the court. A basic foundation program. I had told it to the president of the Bar Association. I have not heard back. Please take the initiative. We are ready to take the initiative. How to file a petition, what to write, what to pray for. This is what we had initiated in Karnataka. I think it will help the Bar. I have already told the Chairman and the President.”The Division Bench of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice N.V. Shravan Kumar were hearing a Writ petition yesterday, filed to quash an Execution Petition (E.P.). The Bench did not take lightly the frivolous arguments advanced by the Advocate.Despite the Bench repeatedly urging the advocate on behalf of the petitioner (respondent in the E.P.) to file objections in the E.P., the advocate vehemently contended that the petitioner was an underprivileged citizen and had approached the Court seeking ‘Justice’.The petition had also arrayed the Senior Civil Judge of the lower court who was hearing the E.P., to which, the Bench took serious objection.“You are inviting trouble... Issuing notice to a Judicial Officer.. Why have you impleaded a judge? What does the Supreme Court say about arraying judicial officers? One should always be in a learning mode. We always sit in a spirit of inquiry and learning. It is not the duty of the members of the Bench to keep the Bar happy."The Chief Justice feeling surprised by the representations made on behalf of the counsel, addressed Senior Counsel Prabhakar Rao, who was present in the Court for another case and urged him to speak to the Bar Association so that a ‘basic training program’ could be set in place.The Basic Training Program, Justice Aradhe stated would be aimed at helping new lawyers understand the basics of pleading and drafting as well as addressing the Court.Chief Justice Aradhe has been unwavering in his agenda to guide young lawyers. Previously Justice Aradhe had also shown his willingness to permit the use of the Judicial Academy when it is not in use for holding training programs for lawyers.
