U.P. State Legal Services Authority Launches Nyaya Rath Mobile Legal Aid Vehicles Across 74 Districts

The Uttar Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (UPSLSA) organized a programme on 14 February 2026 at 3:15 PM at the Chief Justice Portico, High Court, Lucknow Bench, to mark the Flag-Off Ceremony of Multi-Utility Vehicles for the 74 District Legal Services Authorities of Uttar Pradesh, along with the launch of the State Mediation Helpline.The programme was inaugurated by Justice Vikram Nath, Judge, Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman, National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), New Delhi. The event was graced by the presence of Justice Pankaj Mithal, Judge, Supreme Court of India; Justice Arun Bhansali, Chief Justice, High Court of Judicature at Allahabad and Patron-in-Chief, U.P. State Legal Services Authority; Justice D.K. Upadhyaya, Chief Justice, High Court of Delhi; Justice Shree Chandrashekhar, Chief Justice, High Court of Bombay; and Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi, Senior Judge, High Court of Judicature at Allahabad and Executive Chairman, U.P. State Legal Services Authority, along with other Hon'ble Judges of the Allahabad High Court. Officers of the State Legal Services Authority were also present on the occasion.Under the patronage and guidance of Justice Vikram Nath, the Uttar Pradesh State Legal Services Authority has taken a pioneering step by becoming the first in the country to procure Multi-Utility Vehicles for all 74 districts of the State — a significant initiative reflecting vision translated into action and setting a model for the nation.The flag-off of the Nyaya Rath vehicles from the portico of the Allahabad High Court, Lucknow Bench, sends a powerful and reassuring message — that the U.P. State Legal Services Authority remains firmly committed to delivering justice to those at the very last pedestal of society.This initiative marks not merely the flag-off of vehicles, but the movement of justice itself — advancing with resolve to fulfil the shared motto of “Nyaya at the doorstep of every citizen.” These Nyaya Rath vehicles will function as Mobile Legal Aid Clinics and Mobile Mediation Centres, ensuring that access to justice reaches those who need it most.On this occasion, the UPSLSA Mediation Helpline – 1800-180-1212 was also launched. Through this helpline, citizens can obtain free advice and information regarding dispute resolution through mediation. This initiative represents a significant step toward strengthening the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) framework and ensuring easy, speedy, and accessible justice for all.The entire programme reflects the commitment of the Uttar Pradesh State Legal Services Authority to fulfil the constitutional mandate of ensuring equal and effective access to justice.
