Supreme Court's Constitution Bench will conduct in-chamber proceedings tomorrow at 1.40pm for a total of 18 review petitions against its November 9 judgment awarding the disputed land in Ayodhya to Hindu parties while directing 5 acres of land to be ordered to the Muslim side as compensation.

The Bench will comprise of CJI SA Bobde, J DY Chandrachud, J Ashok Bhushan, J Abdul Nazeer along with J Sanjiv Khanna, who replaces former CJI Ranjan Gogoi.

In chamber proceedings are usually conducted in case of review petitions to ascertain whether or not there is any material that has been placed before the court, by the petitioners, to necessitate the bench to give them a hearing in open court. A number of Muslim parties, including some supported by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, 40 activists, Hindu Mahasabha and the Nirmohi Akhara are amongst the parties who approached the apex court after being aggrieved by the decision, and stated that the decision needs to be reconsidered as there were errors apparent on the face of the record.
