    The Supreme Court will hear at 1 PM the petition filed by the Central Government challenging the show-cause notice issued by the Delhi High Court yesterday for contempt action for failure to supply 700 MT per day oxygen to the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

    A bench led by Justice DY Chandrachud is hearing the matter.

    The petition was mentioned before the Chief Justice of India Justice NV Ramana by the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta today morning. The CJI assigned the matter to Justice Chandrachud's bench.

      Bench: - To fulfill the directions. As a matter of fact, this Court has directed for 700. The HC noted that none of this submissions could be accepted.

      Bench: 2 May order states that specific directions were issued to Centre to supply oxygen to GNCTD. Paras 27,28,29. DHC was seized of proceedings, it was argued by Centre that the compliance affidavit would be filed before this Court with regard to steps that have been taken -

      Bench: Following certain proceedings, the Centre had moved the HC - 


      SG: Why we went was that it was for Delhi and that it did not incentivise other StAtes. It is not our responsibility to get tankers.

      Bench: The HC directed that if order is not implemented, the concerned officers of government should be present before the Court.

      Bench: By its order dated 1 May, the HC directed Centre to ensure that NCT of Delhi received allocated supply of 490 MT by whatever means. The Centre was directed to arrange tankers so that allocation to Delhi could be fulfilled.
